Computax GST and Greenote: which does what

CompuGST is the GST filing product in the CompuTax family: returns prepared offline, invoice matching and bulk return filing, compatible with Tally and Excel. No price is published.

CompuTax is a long-standing name in Indian tax software, and CompuGST is its GST filing product. It prepares returns offline, matches invoices against the other side’s return and files in bulk. Greenote does not file a return.

Greenote’s place is the books that the return is drawn from. It puts bank entries and bills into Tally and checks the 2B, GSTR-1 and 3B figures against them on your own PC. If your question is where to file, CompuGST is an answer and Greenote is not. If your question is why the return and the books disagree, that is Greenote’s work.

Who Computax GST suits

  • A practice already on CompuTax for income tax or CompuTDS for TDS.

  • A tax professional who wants to prepare returns offline and file in bulk.

  • An office that wants client reminders by SMS and email around filing dates.

What CompuGST by CompuTax costs

CompuTax does not show a price for CompuGST on its product page. Ask them for a written quote. We read their pages on 11 October 2026 and will not guess a figure.

Computax GST and Greenote: common questions

Does Greenote file GST returns like Computax GST?
No. Greenote does not file GST returns. It prepares the workings and the checks, and you file on the GST portal or in your filing software. Greenote does not generate e-invoices or e-way bills. If you need software to file with, Computax GST is that kind of product and Greenote is not.

GSTR-2B reconciliation, GSTR-3B working, GSTR-1 check, Supplier filing check, Book a month's purchases from 2B and GSTR-9 working. All of it is in the Books and GST and All-in-One plans.
Can I use Greenote together with Computax GST?
Yes, and for most practices that is the sensible arrangement. Greenote gets the books into Tally and checks them; Computax GST is where the return is prepared and filed. The two do not pass data to each other, so you carry the figures across yourself.
How much does Greenote cost compared with Computax GST?
The GST work is in the Books and GST plan, which is ₹11,999 a year for one person and includes everything in Starter. All-in-One, which is every plan together with the office around them, is ₹14,999. No GST is added on top. Computax GST does not publish a price we could read on 11 October 2026, so ask them directly for a current figure rather than relying on any third-party page.
Can I try Greenote first?
Yes. We set up every free trial on a short call, so it is ready for your own statements. The free trial runs for 2 days or 10 statements, whichever comes first, and needs no card. If you need more statements to be sure, ask us and we will add them.
Does Greenote issue a GST invoice?
No. Greenote is not GST-registered, so no GST is added to the listed price and the amount shown is the amount charged. The trade-off is that there is no GST invoice and therefore no input tax credit for your firm. If input credit matters more to you than the headline price, a GST-registered vendor is the better commercial choice.
