What a Kotak Mahindra Bank statement looks like

Where Kotak statements trip up generic converters
These are the specific things that go wrong when a Kotak Mahindra Bank statement is run through a general purpose PDF to Excel tool, or typed by hand at the end of a long day.

In the classic layout the direction is glued to the amount itself, as in "1,234.00 Cr". Splitting on whitespace without handling that suffix produces a number with no sign.

The two layouts use different date separators, hyphens in one and slashes in the other, so a single hard-coded date pattern only ever reads half of Kotak.

Narration continuation rows leave the date cell blank and must be merged upward into the preceding transaction, otherwise you get orphan rows with amounts but no date.
