Bank statement to Tally comparison

Excel to Tally utilities, and where a bank statement tool is different

udiMagic, EazyAUTO4, Quick2Tally, Fastinflow and TallyConnects all push an Excel sheet into Tally. They are good at that. None of them starts from the bank statement as the bank sent it.

Excel to Tally utilities are the oldest answer to data entry in Tally, and they are worth having in a practice. You lay the data out in the utility’s template, it writes the vouchers. For a sales register or a list of ledgers that is exactly right.

A bank statement is a different problem. It does not arrive in a template, it arrives as a PDF in the bank’s own layout, and the column a utility most needs, the ledger, is the one thing the statement does not contain. That is why practices that own a utility still type bank entries. Greenote also posts Excel registers into Tally, but the reason it exists is that missing column.

Who Excel to Tally utilities suits

  • A practice whose clients keep registers in Excel and want them in Tally unchanged.

  • A business moving from another system into Tally, with masters and opening entries to load.

  • Anyone who needs orders, stock journals, payroll or cost-centre vouchers from a sheet.

Greenote: Payment, Receipt, Contra, Sales, Purchase, Journal, Credit Note and Debit Note vouchers, with stock items: Bank entries post as Payment, Receipt and Contra, and the client's sales, purchase and journal registers in Excel go into Tally without anybody retyping them.

Excel to Tally utilities: Yes, in every one of them
Greenote: Masters import: A new client's ledgers and stock items made in Tally from one sheet, checked against the company first.

Excel to Tally utilities: In Excel, then import
Greenote: Quick entry grid: For the journals nobody can automate: a grid that behaves like Excel and goes straight to Tally, checked line by line.
The other side

When Excel to Tally utilities is the better choice

Greenote is not the right answer for every practice. These are the cases where we would tell you to stay where you are.

  • The data is already a clean Excel sheet with the ledger filled in. A utility posts it and that is the whole job.

  • You need voucher kinds Greenote does not post from Excel: orders, delivery and receipt notes, stock journals, payroll vouchers.

  • You are loading a database rather than a sheet. udiMagic Professional posts from SQL and MySQL.

  • You want to rent a tool for a short job. udiMagic sells 60 days.

Why CAs move to Greenote

  • The statement is read on your PC

It is not uploaded to be read, so you can answer the question a client actually asks about their statement: who is storing this, and who else sees it.

  • No page credits

Starter states its number of statements, and ends at that number or after a year, whichever comes first. Every other plan reads unlimited statements. No page credits and no entry counts.

  • The counterparty gets named

Greenote reads the narration for who the transaction was with and binds it to a ledger that already exists in your Tally company, instead of dropping everything into Suspense.

  • Your renewal price is the one you joined at

However far the list price moves afterwards, renewing the same plan never costs more than its first year. Auto-renew is a tick you can leave alone: leave it off and we send you a payment link before the date, or turn it on for one year at a time and cancel whenever you like.

Read on your own PC

Test it on the statements you actually get

The only comparison worth anything is the one run on your own clients’ banks. We set up every free trial on a short call, so it is ready for your own statements. The free trial runs for 2 days or 10 statements, whichever comes first, and needs no card. If you need more statements to be sure, ask us and we will add them.

Excel to Tally utilities: common questions

Does Greenote replace Excel to Tally utilities?
Only for one job: turning Indian bank statements into Tally vouchers. Greenote reads statement PDFs, Excel and CSV files, classifies each transaction, names the counterparty where the narration allows it and posts 8 Tally voucher types into Tally Prime or Tally ERP 9. Excel to Tally utilities is built for more than that job, or for a different one, and this page says where it is the better pick.
How much does Greenote cost compared with Excel to Tally utilities?
Greenote is priced by the work and the size of the office. Starter, for bank statements to Tally, is ₹3,999 a year for one person with 600 statements. Books and GST or Tax and Audit is ₹11,999, and All-in-One, which is both with the office around them, is ₹14,999. An office of up to 5 people pays ₹12,999 for Starter, with unlimited statements. No GST is added on top. What Excel to Tally utilities publishes, read on 11 October 2026, is set out in the table on this page. Check their current pricing before deciding, since prices change.
Can I try Greenote before switching from Excel to Tally utilities?
Yes. We set up every free trial on a short call, so it is ready for your own statements. The free trial runs for 2 days or 10 statements, whichever comes first, and needs no card. If you need more statements to be sure, ask us and we will add them. Run your own client statements through it, since the only comparison that matters is how each tool handles the banks your clients actually use.
Does Greenote issue a GST invoice?
No. Greenote is not GST-registered, so no GST is added to the listed price and the amount shown is the amount charged. The trade-off is that there is no GST invoice and therefore no input tax credit for your firm. If input credit matters more to you than the headline price, a GST-registered vendor is the better commercial choice.
