Bank statement to Tally comparison

Looking for a BahiKaro alternative?

A browser tool that turns a bank CSV or Excel into Tally XML, with a free plan. It reads spreadsheets only, so a statement that arrives as a PDF has to be converted somewhere else first.

BahiKaro does one thing and says it plainly: upload a bank CSV or Excel, classify the transactions, download XML for Tally. It has a free plan for one client, which few tools on this list offer, and for a tiny workload that is hard to argue with.

The limit is what it reads. Most Indian bank statements reach a CA as a PDF, and BahiKaro asks for a spreadsheet. If your banks give you a clean CSV, it may be all you need. If they give you PDFs, that is the gap between the two tools.

Who BahiKaro suits

  • A very small practice, or one client, that fits the free plan.

  • An accountant whose banks all give a CSV or Excel download.

  • Someone who wants nothing installed and is happy importing an XML file into Tally by hand.

“If your bank exports CSV or Excel, BahiKaro can read it.”

The other side

When BahiKaro is the better choice

Greenote is not the right answer for every practice. These are the cases where we would tell you to stay where you are.

  • You have one client and a few dozen transactions a month. Their free plan covers that and costs nothing.

  • Every statement you get is already a CSV or Excel from the bank portal.

  • You want nothing installed. It runs in a browser and gives you XML files to import.

  • You want to pay monthly and stop when you like.

Why CAs move to Greenote

  • The statement is read on your PC

It is not uploaded to be read, so you can answer the question a client actually asks about their statement: who is storing this, and who else sees it.

  • No page credits

Starter states its number of statements, and ends at that number or after a year, whichever comes first. Every other plan reads unlimited statements. No page credits and no entry counts.

  • The counterparty gets named

Greenote reads the narration for who the transaction was with and binds it to a ledger that already exists in your Tally company, instead of dropping everything into Suspense.

  • Your renewal price is the one you joined at

However far the list price moves afterwards, renewing the same plan never costs more than its first year. Auto-renew is a tick you can leave alone: leave it off and we send you a payment link before the date, or turn it on for one year at a time and cancel whenever you like.

Read on your own PC

Test it on the statements you actually get

The only comparison worth anything is the one run on your own clients’ banks. We set up every free trial on a short call, so it is ready for your own statements. The free trial runs for 2 days or 10 statements, whichever comes first, and needs no card. If you need more statements to be sure, ask us and we will add them.

BahiKaro alternative: common questions

Is Greenote a direct replacement for BahiKaro?
For turning Indian bank statements into Tally vouchers, yes. Greenote reads statement PDFs, Excel and CSV files, classifies each transaction, names the counterparty where the narration allows it and posts 8 Tally voucher types into Tally Prime or Tally ERP 9. Where the two differ is that Greenote is Windows desktop software that processes files on your own PC, while BahiKaro is a cloud service that processes uploaded files on its own servers.
How much does Greenote cost compared with BahiKaro?
Greenote is priced by the work and the size of the office. Starter, for bank statements to Tally, is ₹3,999 a year for one person with 600 statements. Books and GST or Tax and Audit is ₹11,999, and All-in-One, which is both with the office around them, is ₹14,999. An office of up to 5 people pays ₹12,999 for Starter, with unlimited statements. No GST is added on top. What BahiKaro publishes, read on 11 October 2026, is set out in the table on this page. Check their current pricing before deciding, since prices change.
Can I try Greenote before switching from BahiKaro?
Yes. We set up every free trial on a short call, so it is ready for your own statements. The free trial runs for 2 days or 10 statements, whichever comes first, and needs no card. If you need more statements to be sure, ask us and we will add them. Run your own client statements through it, since the only comparison that matters is how each tool handles the banks your clients actually use.
Does Greenote issue a GST invoice?
No. Greenote is not GST-registered, so no GST is added to the listed price and the amount shown is the amount charged. The trade-off is that there is no GST invoice and therefore no input tax credit for your firm. If input credit matters more to you than the headline price, a GST-registered vendor is the better commercial choice.
